Dear Participant,
You are invited to take part in a research study exploring masking/camouflaging strategies across life stages and their relationship with psychological well-being in autistic individuals. This study is conducted by the team led by Dr Agnieszka Siedler, Institute of Psychology, Maria Grzegorzewska University.
What is this study about?
You are asked to complete several anonymous questionnaires about your social experiences, masking strategies across life stages, and emotional functioning. The questionnaires aim to capture behaviours related to masking and social experiences at different developmental stages. We hope that this study will contribute to improving psychological and social support for autistic individuals by understanding how masking develops over time, which may help promote authenticity.
Who can take part in this study?
Adults aged 18+ (both neurodivergent and neurotypical individuals) can take part in this study.
How long will the study take?
The estimated duration of this study is 45–75 minutes.
Do I have to take part?
Participation is entirely voluntary and anonymous. You may withdraw at any point without providing a reason.
Is this study anonymous?
Yes. Data will be analysed and reported only in an aggregated form. No one will be able to work out that you have participated in this study.
What are the potential benefits of taking part in this study?
Your participation may help improve outcomes for others like you in the future. Some people find it helpful to share their experiences.
What are the potential risks of taking part in this study?
You might feel upset when answering some of the questions. If you feel this way, you can take a break or speak to someone at any time. You may choose not to answer any of the questions.
If you have any questions, please contact: asiedler@aps.edu.pl .
By proceeding with the study, you confirm that you have read the information above and that you have had the opportunity to consider the information, ask questions, and have had these answered satisfactorily.
